White House crypto adviser Patrick Witt shared a report saying lawmakers reached a compromise on the Clarity Act and could hold a markup in May, while Polymarket odds of passage this year rose to almost 70%. Coinbase chief policy officer Faryar Shirzad said the compromise would restrict stablecoin rewards that are equivalent to bank deposit interest while preserving rewards tied to crypto platform usage. Galaxy Digital head of research Alex Thorn said a markup could come as soon as the week of May 11, though he expects bank opposition to increase.
