Lately I've been pondering a question: what kind of people can survive longer in the market? My answer is: those who dare to reset to zero.

Have you noticed that many people are hostage to their past successes? After making money in the last bull market, they stubbornly stick to that same method; having been right a few times before, they become unwilling to listen to other voices. This kind of stubbornness seems firm, but in reality, it’s the biggest risk. The mindset of resetting to zero is about breaking this rigidity, letting go of past glory and status, and approaching everything with an open mind.

I understand the concept of resetting to zero in three levels. The first is letting go—releasing attachment to past achievements. The second is breaking—shattering fixed thinking patterns. The third is reconstructing—reinterpreting the market and oneself from a completely new perspective. You can never find new continents by following an old map, and this is especially true in trading.

The most painful realization is that most people are completely unaware that they are trapped in their comfort zone. You think you’re busy and making progress, but in fact, you’re just repeating yourself. The true comfort zone isn’t lying around doing nothing; it’s being so busy that you have no time to reflect. This invisible dilemma is more dangerous than any failure.

To break free from this predicament, you need the courage to shed your shell. Wang Yangming once said, “Breaking the mountain bandits is easy, breaking the inner bandit is hard.” External change is simple; the difficult part is overthrowing inner obsessions. The process of shedding the shell will bleed and hurt, but that’s the price of growth. Life is like riding a bicycle—only by moving forward can you avoid falling; stagnation is the greatest danger.

Someone asked, why not first determine what you can gain and then decide what to give up? The problem is that the future is unpredictable. No one can accurately forecast tomorrow’s market, nor can anyone foresee life’s turning points. But precisely because of this uncertainty, life is meaningful. Those who dare to reset to zero and to give up can actually gain more. The crown may seem glorious, but in fact, it’s a permanent bondage.

So my current understanding is that the mindset of resetting to zero is not passive but a positive way of rebirth. The more confidence you have in the future, the more patience you can maintain in the present. That’s also why those who survive the longest in the crypto world are often those willing to keep resetting and learning continuously. How about you—do you dare to reset to zero?
