Recently, I have been thinking about the phrase in the Tao Te Ching, "He who does not contend, therefore the world cannot contend with him,"
Many people interpret it as retreat and tolerance, but I think this understanding is superficial.
The true meaning should be: I pursue a higher dimension, what you are fighting for I simply do not care about, so you cannot fight for mine.
It’s not that I have no pursuits, but that the levels of pursuit are different.
I contend with the Way of Heaven, you contend with the Way of Man, I am already standing at a higher position.
This logic is especially interesting when applied to investing.
I buy those truly excellent companies within my capability circle, buy them at reasonable prices, and then hold them long-term.
I don’t chase short-term fluctuations with those who buy high and sell low, nor do I differentiate between mainstream coins and small coins, because I am not concerned with these at all.
What I focus on is the direction of the future.
As long as the company's future develops well, that’s enough.
Bitcoin is more volatile than the US stock market? That’s okay.
The road is a bit winding? That’s also okay.
As long as the overall direction of future growth remains unchanged, those fluctuations are just noise to me, and I don’t need to contend with them.
Looking at the current market, BTC is around 78.33K, ETH at 2.31K, these numbers change every day.
But I don’t contend with the fluctuations, yet I can pocket all the gains.
Others scramble for a few percentage points of short-term gains, risking head injuries; I just patiently wait for time to give the answer.
This is why I don’t compete with them, but I can still get everything they pursue.
It’s not that I don’t contend, but that I contend on a higher level.
They seek opportunities within volatility, I seek the certainty brought by time.
"He who does not contend, therefore the world cannot contend with him," embodies this principle.
