Paradigm researcher Dan Robinson has introduced a new model this week aimed at protecting dormant Bitcoin, including the Bitcoin held by network creator Satoshi Nakamoto, from potential quantum computing threats. The proposal introduces "Verifiable Address Control Timestamps" (PACTs), which will enable Bitcoin holders to prove that they controlled a wallet before quantum advancements, thereby avoiding private key derivation through quantum computing. Holders will generate a control proof and timestamp it on the blockchain, establishing a record of ownership, which can later be unlocked on a quantum-resistant version of Bitcoin to recover funds.
