I noticed an interesting thing about Larry Fink's wealth that is worth exploring. The CEO of BlackRock is one of the highest-paid executives in the world, and the numbers are truly impressive when you think about it.
Let's start with his compensation: in 2022, he earned over $32.7 million in total. We're talking about a $1.5 million base salary, plus a $7.25 million bonus, plus nearly $23.3 million in stock awards. It's so high that, according to AFL-CIO, his salary was 212 times that of the average employee in that fiscal year. A disparity that makes you think.
But the most interesting part comes when you look at his stock holdings. According to the SEC in February 2024, Fink owned about 414,000 BlackRock shares. With the stock trading around $761 per share, that position alone was worth over $315 million. It's practically a fortune just from the company's shares.
If you add everything up, Larry Fink's net worth according to Forbes was estimated to be around $1.1 billion as of May 2024. A level of wealth that reflects both his power position and BlackRock's success over the past decades. It's interesting to see how Larry Fink's wealth is built both on direct compensation and significant stock holdings in the company he leads.
