I was looking at the January billionaire rankings and was struck by how religion is spread among the wealthiest. For example, Elon Musk at the top with 421 billion but an atheist, while Jeff Bezos practices the Catholic Christian religion with 233 billion. Interestingly, among the top 10, there's a mix: Jews like Zuckerberg and Sergey Brin, Catholics like Bernard Arnault, Protestants like Ballmer. Warren Buffett is Presbyterian with 141 billion, Jensen Huang of Nvidia has basically made no public statements. The strange thing is that there doesn't seem to be a real pattern — that is, no specific religion guarantees becoming a billionaire. Larry Page and Ellison are atheists and Jews respectively, both close to 200 billion. I think it's more about the industry and timing: tech, retail, luxury. Jeff Bezos's religion may influence his personal values but not his ability to build Amazon. Still, it's fascinating to see these data points together like this; it makes you reflect on how wealth cuts across beliefs.
