U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren and Ron Wyden sent a letter to Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino to inquire about Tether providing loans to family trusts associated with Lutnick's children, requesting confirmation of any bribery activities; the loan amount is unspecified and may have been used for his children to purchase shares in Cantor Fitzgerald, the senators also expressed concern over Tether's lobbying efforts related to the GENIUS stablecoin bill and past regulatory issues, and currently the Department of Commerce and Tether have not responded.
