Recently, when the on-chain congestion occurs, many people think that "clicking confirm is all done," but in fact, the transaction is just queued in the mempool first. What you see is a bunch of pending transactions crowded together; it's not about who sends first, but about who offers a higher tip; if you set it too low, it stays hanging, and when the price fluctuates, transactions that could have been executed turn into slippage explosions or simply expire and fail, and gas still gets deducted a little bit, which is quite annoying.

Some people also keep an eye on large transfers on the chain, and when exchange hot and cold wallets move, they shout "smart money is coming," but honestly, during congestion, these large orders are also queuing or jumping queues; sometimes it's just address changes, consolidation, or risk control operations, which are interpreted as if they were scripted... My current approach is: if it's really urgent, just honestly pay a higher fee; if not, wait patiently, and don't hard-bet with the market during the peak congestion.
