Just read that the oldest countries in the world are much older than people think. Iran leads the list — founded as early as 3200 BC, then Egypt at 3100 BC. Pretty wild, right?

What surprised me: Vietnam comes in third place at 2879 BC, and even China is only listed from 2070 BC. I would have thought China was much earlier. Armenia and North Korea are also surprisingly high on the list.

The oldest countries in the world simply show how long some cultures have existed. Allegedly based on the earliest known governments. Interesting how different the founding dates are — from over 5000 years to just under 3000 years.

Do you know if these dates are still current or if there are newer findings?
