Lately, I have been reviewing some blockchain projects that have deep roots in the Asian ecosystem, and honestly, there are some Chinese cryptocurrencies that deserve to be on your radar if you're looking to diversify your portfolio beyond the obvious options.
Let's start with NEO. This project positions itself as the Chinese equivalent of Ethereum, and the truth is it has been building a pretty solid digital economy through smart contracts and digital identity. The environment it provides for developing DApps is quite robust, so if you're interested in the decentralized application ecosystem, it's definitely worth monitoring.
Next is Conflux (CFX), which I find interesting because it operates with a mechanism called Tree-Graph that allows it to run at high speed. What sets it apart is that it is one of the few Chinese blockchain projects with official approval within the country. It focuses on Web3, digital identity, and collaborations with the government, suggesting a more institutional adoption.
VeChain (VET) is another that has been connecting blockchain with the physical world for years. Its focus on supply chains is practical: tracking products from origin to the end consumer. You see it applied in industry, fashion, automobiles, and food. It’s one of those Chinese cryptocurrencies that solves a real problem.
Ontology (ONT) concentrates on digital identity and data management. Basically, it helps companies build decentralized identity verification systems with secure storage. It’s the kind of infrastructure we will likely see more of in the coming years.
Finally, QTUM is interesting because it combines two worlds: it takes Bitcoin’s security and adds Ethereum’s programmability. The result is a fairly balanced environment for developing decentralized applications with good performance and flexibility. For companies and developers looking for something more versatile, it’s an option to consider.
If you’re looking to explore beyond the Western narrative of cryptocurrencies, these Chinese projects offer different perspectives on how to build blockchain. I personally keep an eye on them at Gate, where you can monitor price movements and volume for each one.
