Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about AIGC again. Don’t you think the speed of evolution of AI-generated content, that is, AIGC, is truly astonishing?

Basically, AIGC refers to the technology that uses artificial intelligence to generate content. There are concepts like PGC and UGC, but as the name suggests, AIGC is where AI takes the main role in creating content. Many people probably remember the shock when ChatGPT appeared, which was a huge success in the AIGC field. The fact that it surpassed 100 million monthly active users in just one month is an extraordinary speed compared to any other product.

Looking back at the history of AIGC, the proposal of “Generative Adversarial Networks” (GAN) in 2014 was a turning point. GAN is a system where the generative model and the discriminative model compete and learn from each other, and this became the earliest practical framework for AIGC. Later, in 2020, Web3 and AI merged, and a platform called Art Blocks emerged. The realization of programmable generative art on the Ethereum blockchain was the first successful example of AIGC in the blockchain space.

The speed of AIGC development in 2022 was truly incredible. It was still in an immature stage at the beginning of the year, but within a few months, it reached a professional level. The CEO of a major exchange even announced the official release of an AI product. Now, content generation is not limited to text but also includes images, audio, video, and multiple formats.

Thinking about the future prospects of AIGC, honestly, I can’t stop feeling excited. The implementation of the metaverse is no longer just a fantasy, and if AIGC becomes its core, unlimited creativity will become possible. Streamlining production processes, reducing labor, and rapidly generating high-quality content—if AIGC and the metaverse truly merge, I believe a new phase of Web3.0 will open up. The era where users can explore virtual worlds infinitely might no longer be just a dream.
