NIO announces the Silk Road charging and swapping network construction plan at the Beijing Auto Show

On April 24, at the 2026 Beijing International Auto Show, NIO announced its plan to build a battery-swapping network along the Silk Road corridor, and launched a themed experience activity of the same name. According to the plan, the battery-swapping network will be connected in two phases. In May, the layout for the Xi’an to Dunhuang segment (the Hexi Corridor) will be completed first, with a total length of 1,739 kilometers and 20 battery-swapping stations. By the end of September, the entire line will be connected to Horgos, Xinjiang, with a total length of 3,448 kilometers and 30 battery-swapping stations. At that time, NIO and LeDao brand users will be able to complete the entire journey from Xi’an to Horgos entirely through battery swapping. (Jiemian News)
