Honestly, when choosing a smartphone, it all comes down to one thing — the processor inside. It’s the one that determines how many years you can actually use the phone without it starting to slow down and become annoying. Currently, prices for devices range from four or five thousand to seven or eight thousand rubles, and that’s a significant difference in your wallet.
I’ve long noticed a simple fact: if you buy a more expensive phone but use it for one or two years longer, it becomes cheaper per year. The savings are real. For example, if you buy a device for six thousand and use it for five years, the annual depreciation is only twelve hundred rubles — which is quite reasonable.
But for that, you need to choose the right processor, otherwise after a couple of years, the device will start to lag, especially if it’s Android. That’s why making the right choice here is important.
This year, Qualcomm and MediaTek released several worthy options. For most people, the Snapdragon 8 Prestige version is the optimal compromise. Its price is lower than top-tier models, and phones with this chip hardly have unnecessary markups. In practice, it works without issues in most applications and can quite comfortably last five years if you choose a reliable manufacturer with good optimization.
MediaTek 9500 also deserves attention — it’s actively used by OPPO and vivo. If you’re a fan of these brands, the mobile processor rating for 2025 shows that this series is quite competitive. It’s worth considering if you like their interfaces and philosophy.
In general, when looking at processor ratings, the main thing to remember is: you don’t always need the most powerful chip. Often, a good mid-range option is enough, which will last long and won’t disappoint you.
