On May 1, U.S. President Trump commented on the status of negotiations with Iran, but he did not rule out the possibility that hostile actions could continue. When asked by reporters if he was ‘eager to break the ceasefire agreement,’ Trump stated that there are many issues in negotiations with Iran due to Tehran’s ‘stubbornness,’ as ‘no one knows who their leaders are.’ Returning to the initial question, he summarized, ‘I don’t know if we need to do that’; but he added, ‘We may indeed need to.’ Trump also described the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz as ‘incredible’ and claimed that Washington has ‘destroyed’ Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
