CryptoWorld News reports that, according to Coinpost, SBI Holdings announced on May 1, 2026, that it has entered into discussions with Bitbank Corporation, which operates the cryptocurrency exchange Bitbank, regarding capital and business cooperation, intending to incorporate it into a consolidated subsidiary, and plans to acquire its shares after completing due diligence and internal procedures. The timing and method of the acquisition have not yet been clarified. Previously, in April 2026, the SBI Group continued industry consolidation by merging with SBI VC Trade to acquire Bitpoint Japan. Bitbank had previously disclosed that it planned to go public on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in mid-2025, but the details of its capital cooperation and equity acquisition arrangements, as well as its IPO plans, remain unclear.
