I’m increasingly feeling that L2 and the mainnet keep bouncing back and forth between “saving gas” and “feeling at ease.” The L2 experience is indeed smooth—you just click a couple of times and it’s done—but the part where you hop bridge to bridge always makes me feel a bit off, especially when the amount is a little larger, and then I want to slow down. The mainnet is really expensive—yes, really—but for key operations (like rebalancing positions, revoking authorizations, or moving cold wallets), I’m actually willing to pay a bit more, like buying some insurance.
Recently, there’s been a whole lot of excitement around testnet incentives and “earning points.” Put plainly, everyone is betting on whether the mainnet will issue tokens—I find myself itching to join in, too, but I don’t want to be pulled along. After all, saving gas might also mean having your time and attention taken away.
Tonight, I’ll first revoke the authorizations for a few old dApps. I’ll also jot down the transfer-in/transfer-out costs for the L2 networks I use most often. I’ll decide tomorrow whether I want to mess around with anything further.
