I recently saw a long post from Ma Rong, talking about how miserable her life has been over the years. It's been almost nine years since the divorce, she moved from a villa to a dilapidated old apartment in Xi'an, and she only has four digits left in her bank account, not even daring to attend parent-teacher meetings for her children. Looking at her transferred money records, she even has to combine discounts just to order takeout. It’s truly quite sad.
In her post, she admits that she was too young back then and chose the wrong person, having only met Song Zhe once. The other party doesn’t want to look back, and she can no longer be with Wang Baoqiang. Honestly, the most ironic part of this story is right here.
Ma Rong was always an average-looking woman with no fame, relying entirely on Wang Baoqiang to gain some popularity. Back then, she dressed up extravagantly every day, looked down on her rural-born husband, and while spending her husband's money, she was also involved with her assistant Song Zhe. She thought her beauty attracted him, but what was Song Zhe really after? He just wanted to get close to the boss’s wife and profit from it. As a result, without Wang Baoqiang’s halo, Ma Rong became just a passerby, and even Song Zhe didn’t want her anymore.
On the other hand, Wang Baoqiang is no longer the naive fool he was back then. Over the years, he has developed comprehensively in film, television, and variety shows. His directed film "In the Octagon" grossed over 2.2 billion yuan at the box office, and his reputation has turned around, making him a big star. Standing beside him is Stanford graduate Feng Qing. No matter what, Ma Rong can never go back to the way she was.
I think, Ma Rong’s biggest mistake wasn’t cheating, but overestimating herself and misjudging her relationship with Song Zhe. She didn’t realize that her value was entirely due to Wang Baoqiang’s status. Once she lost that status, she was nothing. Some people only understand the loss after they’ve experienced it—you don’t truly own what you think you own.
