BlockBeats News, May 1 — SBI Holdings announced on May 1, 2026, that it has entered into discussions with the cryptocurrency exchange operator “bitbank,” a subsidiary of Bitbank Corporation, regarding capital and business cooperation. The plan is to incorporate it into a consolidated subsidiary, and after completing due diligence and internal procedures, acquire its shares. The timing and method of the acquisition have not yet been clarified.

Previously, in April 2026, SBI Group continued industry consolidation by merging with SBI VC Trade to acquire Bitpoint Japan. Bitbank had disclosed that it originally planned to go public on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in mid-2025.
