Powell Says He Will Remain Fed Governor After May 15 as DOJ Probe Closes

Jerome Powell said he welcomes the DOJ’s move to close its investigation and plans to remain a Federal Reserve governor after stepping down as chair on May 15. Powell said the DOJ provided assurances over the weekend that the investigation would not be reopened unless there is a criminal referral. Powell said his service as a governor after May 15 will last for an undetermined period and that he will leave the Fed at an appropriate time.
