Sometimes the "on-chain data" you see is actually delayed: nodes are still catching up with blocks, RPCs are queuing, and indexers haven't updated in time. Even refreshing ten times might just show the same old view. During the recent cross-chain bridge theft, my first reaction wasn't to jump in and check the transfers, but to compare the block heights on two different RPCs. Otherwise, you'd think the funds are still there, but they've actually already moved on... When oracles report abnormal prices, everyone yells "wait for confirmation," which is basically because they're afraid the on-chain data they're viewing hasn't synchronized yet. Anyway, I now habitually take screenshots to keep as evidence, so I won't start doubting life if the page suddenly changes later.
