Abstract generation in progress

Crypto World News reports that Meta is beginning to pay Facebook creators using USDC stablecoins through Stripe for the first time, marking the platform’s first crypto payment initiative since shutting down the Libra project four years ago. USDC creator payments went live on April 29, and Meta updated its support page to show that eligible creators in Colombia and the Philippines can receive earnings in USDC on Solana or Polygon. Stripe handles the transactions and generates crypto-related tax documents. Meta explicitly states that it has not issued its own stablecoin but is using Circle’s USDC. This rollout aligns with Meta’s February disclosure of plans to enter the stablecoin payment space through third-party infrastructure. The choice of Solana is significant, with transaction times of approximately 400 milliseconds and fees below $0.001. In 2025, Meta paid nearly $3 billion to content creators, and shifting some payments to stablecoins will bring substantial transaction volume to Solana and Polygon.
