Just looked into something interesting about global wealth distribution and honestly, it's wild how much the bar differs depending on where you live. To hit the 1% in America, you're looking at roughly $5.8 million net worth. Sounds like a lot, but compared to Monaco or Luxembourg, it's actually pretty reasonable. Those tiny countries? You need almost $13M and $11M respectively just to crack their top 1%. Switzerland and Singapore are similar - small populations, higher wealth requirements. What caught me off guard though is how America actually sits in the middle globally. We've got a massive population of 335 million, yet our 1% threshold is higher than most other large economies. China and Japan both have way lower minimums - under $2 million - even though they're massive countries too. The real interesting part is that these are just minimum thresholds. The ultra-wealthy crowd (UHNWI) starts at $30M, and that group hit 626,000 people worldwide by end of 2023. So yeah, being rich is relative, but America's definitely not the cheapest place to join the elite wealth club.
