So I just found out that $2 bills sitting in your drawer could actually be worth way more than face value. Like, we're talking thousands if you've got the right one. Been carrying these around thinking they're basically worthless, but apparently some are going for $4,500+ on the collectibles market.

The thing is, it really depends on when it was printed. If your $2 bill is from before 1976, there's a decent chance it's worth something. The older ones from the 1800s are where the real money is - an uncirculated bill from 1890 can fetch $4,500 or more, though most range between $550-$2,500. Even bills from the 1960s-90s can be worth hundreds if they're in good condition. Found one from 1995? Could be around $500. There's also this premium Federal Reserve set from 2003 where certain bills go for $700+.

But here's the catch - most $2 bills you actually see in circulation are just worth $2. The Treasury is still printing them (they were planning to print over 200 million back in 2022), and there are billions in circulation. So unless you've specifically got an older uncirculated note, you're probably looking at the face value. Still, worth checking your stash to see how much is a two dollar bill worth today if you happen to have any vintage ones hiding around. Don't just spend them without checking first - could be leaving serious money on the table.
