Just realized how many people still don't know all the ways you can transfer money between banks. Honestly, it's way simpler now than it used to be, but there are definitely some methods that work better depending on what you're trying to do.

If you're moving cash between your own accounts at the same bank, that's basically instant and free. Same bank, same day, no questions asked. But if you need to transfer from one bank to another that you own, you'll want to link the accounts first. Your bank will verify it's actually yours by dropping a couple small deposits - takes a day or two to show up, then you enter the amounts to confirm. After that, transfers between them usually take 2-4 business days.

For bigger amounts, wire transfers are the move if you need speed. You're looking at one day or less, but yeah, you'll pay for it - usually somewhere between $30-$75 depending on your bank and whether it's domestic or international. Not cheap, but if you need the money fast, it might be worth it.

If you're sending money to someone else, P2P apps like Venmo, Zelle, or PayPal are honestly the easiest now. You just need their email or phone number, and if they're set up on the same app, it can go through in minutes. Some banks charge fees if you want it faster or if you're pulling from a credit card instead of your bank account, but most free transfers take up to two business days.

Other options still exist if you want them - writing a check takes 1-5 business days to clear, or you can withdraw cash and deposit it somewhere else, though some banks won't let you deposit cash into someone else's account anymore.

The real key is checking with your specific bank about their policies and cutoff times. Each one has slightly different rules, so don't assume what works at one place works everywhere. But yeah, transferring money to another bank is definitely easier now than it was a few years ago - you've got way more options than before.
