CoinWorld News reports that, according to Certik, the cryptocurrency industry lost over $650.9 million in April 2026 due to hacking, scams, and vulnerabilities, making it the worst month since March 2022.


The major losses came from incidents involving Kiloex and Drift Protocol, totaling over $576 million.
DeFi platforms were the most affected, with losses approaching $609 million, while centralized platforms and gaming projects suffered relatively smaller losses.
Certik's data also shows that wallet breaches are the primary cause of losses, accounting for over $610 million.
