Caixin: Chongqing law firm partner Peng Jing goes missing, possibly involved in the mayor Hu Henghua's 30.8 million USDT money laundering case

Deep Tide TechFlow news: On April 30, according to Caixin, multiple independent sources confirmed to Caixin that the founding partner and director of a law firm in Chongqing was recently taken away by relevant authorities. The lawyer is Peng Jing, the founding partner and director of Chongqing Jingsheng Law Firm. External speculation suggests she has close ties to the officials who were previously removed from their posts. According to analysis from sources, lawyers at law firms are usually not taken away by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection; “but Peng Jing’s network is very extensive, and her case involves too many people.”

On March 20, 2026, Chongqing Mayor Hu Henghua was announced to be under investigation. On April 17, Chongqing Municipal Party Committee Standing Committee member and Liangjiang New Area Party Secretary Luo Lin was also announced to have fallen from power. According to messages from Chongqing’s local political and business circles, Hu Henghua and Luo Lin’s downfall is related to bribery and money laundering through stablecoins, and “Peng Jing may be a key figure, helping others launder money in the name of receiving legal fees.”

Sources said that in the Hu Henghua case, Lin Kechuang, Hu Henghua’s son-in-law, gave Hu Henghua 30.8 million USDT (approximately RMB 210 million, of which 10 million was in conversion fees). After Hu Henghua was placed under investigation, the cold wallet was brought under control. Relevant authorities then found the fund flow of six other cold wallets held by Lin Kechuang; among them was a transfer of 15.5 million USDT made at the same time as Hu Henghua’s transfer, which Lin Kechuang said was sent to Luo Lin. Luo Lin was taken away by relevant authorities on April 14, 2026. On the evening of April 15, his home was searched, but this cold wallet was not found. Afterwards, relevant authorities found Luo Lin’s cold wallet at a third party’s residence.
