Just heard Southwest is finally doing red-eye flights and honestly I'm kind of here for it. They're planning like 50 overnight flights a night eventually, starting with Vegas to Hawaii routes. Never thought I'd be excited about a red-eye but the more I think about it, there's actually some solid money moves here if you're trying to travel cheap.

Like, the biggest one - you basically skip a whole hotel night. If you fly out late instead of during the day, you land in the morning and can just start your trip. That's literally hundreds of dollars saved right there. Plus you get an extra full day at your destination instead of losing it to travel time. That's actually kind of genius.

Another thing nobody talks about - if you're not using PTO anyway, a cheap red eye flight means you can work the day you leave and still make your trip. So you're not burning vacation days just on the travel day itself. The whole thing is basically designed to squeeze more out of your trip budget.

Yeah, you'll probably be tired when you land, but if you can push through and adjust to local time, the money you save on hotels and the extra day you gain? That makes the red-eye thing way more worth it than I expected. Definitely keeping an eye on Southwest's pricing when these launch.
