Just found out dogs can totally have watermelon and honestly I've been doing it wrong. Apparently you gotta remove the seeds and rind first - those can cause blockages and choking, which I had no idea about. The flesh itself is actually great for them though, especially in summer since it's like 92% water and keeps them hydrated.

So if you're wondering can dogs eat watermelon, the answer is yes but with some rules. Cut it into small bite-sized pieces and start with just a few to see how your dog reacts. If they're cool with it, you can give them a few pieces here and there, but don't go overboard. Too much can upset their stomach - we're talking vomiting and diarrhea, which nobody wants to deal with.

The cool part is watermelon has vitamins A, B6, and C plus antioxidants that are actually good for them. One vet mentioned it's a great way to keep them cool and hydrated during hot months. You can do frozen pieces too, just make sure they're seedless and rind-free.

I'm definitely trying this with mine next time. Just gonna be careful about the portions and definitely checking with my vet first. Anyone else feed their dog watermelon? Does yours actually like it or is it just mine that's weird about food?
