So I've been looking into ways to stretch my grocery budget since food prices just keep climbing, and honestly buy now pay later services are kind of a game-changer if you're living paycheck to paycheck. The USDA wasn't wrong about that 2% increase prediction - it's been real out there with tariffs and supply chain stuff making everything more expensive.
I started checking out these pay later options for groceries and there's actually quite a few. Affirm's solid if you shop at the big retailers like Walmart or Costco - no fees on their 4-payment plan which is nice. Afterpay's more for specialty stores and super easy to use if you've never done this before. PayPal's got multiple options including a 6-month interest-free period if you're doing a bigger haul. And then there's Splitit which is interesting because it works with any store where your credit card is accepted, so you're not locked into specific retailers.
The key thing though is understanding what you're getting into. No fees sounds great but late fees can add up fast, and some of these have higher APRs for longer payment plans. I'm using buy now pay later mostly for flexibility rather than relying on it constantly - it's helping me manage those weeks when groceries cost way more than expected. The trick is staying on top of payments so you don't end up paying more in fees than you saved.
Anyone else using these for food shopping? Curious how it's working out for people.
