I'm starting to keep track of how I choose between the mainnet and L2, and it’s pretty funny: it’s not that I’ve become more rational, it’s that I finally admit I get led by the words “cheap” and “smooth.” Small transactions mostly skip L2, saving gas as a psychological comfort; for large, long-term holdings, I still prefer the mainnet where I can sleep soundly—sure, it’s expensive, but at least I don’t get that feeling of “what’s happening on the bridge, I have no idea.”
Recently, L2 users are arguing about TPS, fees, and subsidies, and I feel like I’m shopping for watermelons at the market… Anyway, after recording it, I found that the more enjoyable the experience, the easier I am to slip up; the more expensive the gas, the more I can hold back. To put it simply, the best compromise isn’t choosing a chain, but adding a brake for yourself: don’t save a few bucks only to end up with a knife.
