UAE Plans to Exit OPEC and OPEC+ Effective May 1

The United Arab Emirates said it plans to leave OPEC and OPEC+ effective on May 1. The UAE energy ministry said the country was OPEC’s third-largest producer behind Saudi Arabia and Iraq. The ministry said the exit will give the UAE more flexibility to respond to market dynamics.
