Gold Financial News reports, on April 30th, Bloomberg US reported on the 29th that, according to a senior White House official, the US government is seeking to “confiscate” two oil tankers related to Iran that the US Navy intercepted recently. The report states that the official said the US Department of Justice has initiated a “confiscation” process, but did not specify what this process entails, nor did he indicate whether this move signifies the US plans to “confiscate” the crude oil loaded on the tankers. The official, who requested anonymity, also cited “operational security” as a reason for refusing to disclose how these ships will ultimately be handled, nor did he comment on their current navigation routes. According to the US Department of Defense, the US Navy intercepted and boarded two oil tankers “transporting oil from Iran” in the Indian Ocean on the 20th and 22nd respectively. The report states that these two tankers continued to sail in the Indian Ocean in the following days and appeared to change course multiple times. (Xinhua News Agency)
