Although Trump revealed that Iran hopes the U.S. will open the Strait of Hormuz soon, he immediately stated that he was "not satisfied" with Iran's latest peace proposal, believing that the plan would delay nuclear negotiations. Iran, on the other hand, issued a tough signal, claiming they are capable of "holding out longer than Trump insists." In response, Jim Reid, head of macro research at Deutsche Bank, pointed out that the lack of signs of negotiations is increasing market concerns about a breakdown in talks.
