Golden Finance reports that on April 30th, U.S. President Trump stated on the 29th that the United States and Iran are conducting negotiations via phone calls, while emphasizing that Iran must explicitly commit to completely abandoning nuclear weapons. Trump said at the White House Oval Office that the U.S. and Iran have been in dialogue, and now communicate by phone, “no longer like before, where every time we wanted to see a document, we had to fly 18 hours to hold a meeting.” He said this method is very convenient, “I make a call, or have my people call, and within 15 minutes, we can get the answer,” but “I have always preferred face-to-face communication.” Trump said that negotiations have made some progress, but the issue is whether Iran’s concessions can meet U.S. demands. “At present, unless they explicitly promise to completely abandon nuclear weapons, there is no possibility for either side to reach any agreement.” (Xinhua)
