Trump Considers Reducing U.S. Troops in Germany

On April 30, local time April 29, U.S. President Trump posted on his social media platform ‘Truth Social’ that the U.S. is studying and reviewing the possibility of reducing its troops stationed in Germany, with a decision expected to be made soon. German Chancellor Merz publicly stated on April 27 that ‘the U.S. is being humiliated by Iran’ and pointed out that the U.S. has ‘no exit strategy’ regarding the war with Iran, which has displeased Trump. Over the past two months, Trump has also expressed dissatisfaction multiple times about NATO allies not ‘helping out’ in the U.S. efforts against Iran. There is widespread speculation that the U.S. may ‘withdraw some troops from Europe’ as a result.
