just realized hawaii isn't the only place with those perfect tropical vibes but way less expensive? been looking into alternatives and found some solid options that are honestly giving similar hawaii energy without the crazy price tag.

so like cancun is probably the obvious one - turquoise water, beaches, the whole deal. couple of sources say you're looking at around $1,100 for a solo week, maybe $2k for two people. pretty solid compared to hawaii's $2-5k range.

but here's what caught me off guard - puerto rico might actually be the move. it's got rainforests, waterfalls, decent nightlife, and the best part? no passport needed if you're american. averaging like $1,500 per person for a week which is wild. plus it feels way more accessible than other caribbean spots.

then there's tahiti which sounds expensive at first but apparently if you go during their low season (december-february) and grab an airbnb instead of a hotel, you can bundle packages starting around $2,500-3,500 for the week. black sand beaches and lagoons that look just as insane as hawaii tbh.

the timing matters too - flexible dates = cheaper flights everywhere. kinda wild that places like hawaii get all the hype when there are other tropical destinations that hit the same aesthetic for way less. anyone else been to these spots or considering them?
