Today I was watching the mempool again for a while, and during congestion, it really feels like "smelling smoke"... When you click send, you're actually just lining up: first squeezing into a bunch of similar transactions, miners/packagers will only pick the more "fragrant" ones (those that pay more and are easier to include) first. Your transaction might go from "should be included in the next block" to "still pending," and then your wallet starts scaring you: either increase the fee, wait for it to timeout, or get snatched by someone else completing what you wanted to do first, leaving you stuck awkwardly.
A while ago, the airdrop season task platform cracked down hard on anti-witchcraft, and the points system was as competitive as a job. Once I was rushing to submit a task, saw abnormal gas fees but still pushed through, and ended up queuing so long I forgot I even sent it... That transaction got stuck in the middle, neither confirmed nor dropped, and I was afraid to cancel it because it might be more troublesome. Basically, I was just being careless. Now I usually have one rule: if I don’t understand it, I don’t move; wait for the network to breathe before acting. Anyway, rushing for a minute usually doesn’t get you any good results.
