UAE Announces Exit from OPEC Effective May 1, 2026
UAE #WCTCTradingKingPK UAE( officially announces its withdrawal from OPEC and OPEC+ membership starting May 1, 2026, as reported by the state news agency WAM on Tuesday )28/4(. The strategic decision to pursue independent oil production policies was made amid soaring energy prices due to the Iran conflict, where Brent crude oil prices currently soar to )per barrel and WTI surpasses $111 per barrel.
With a production capacity of 3.2 million barrels per day, the UAE now has full flexibility to respond to market demand without being bound by the organization's quota. UAE Energy Minister emphasizes that this independence is crucial to optimize national revenue amid global supply shortages. This move also ends a six-decade partnership and reinforces the UAE's position as an independent player in the global energy market.
The withdrawal of the third-largest producer in the bloc automatically weakens OPEC's bargaining position and adds burden to Saudi Arabia in maintaining market stability. Analysts believe UAE's exit will trigger a major restructuring of the global energy power map, where national interests are now beginning to outweigh the collective consensus of the oil cartel.
