So Beyond Meat just rolled out their new breakfast sausage line nationwide and it's showing up in a bunch of major supermarkets now. Pretty interesting timing since plant-based breakfast options are still pretty niche compared to lunch and dinner stuff.
The thing that caught my eye is how they're positioning this - they're really going after the taste and nutrition angle rather than just the 'it's plant-based so buy it' pitch. New formula, supposedly better flavor profile. That's smart because breakfast is where people are pickiest honestly.
What's notable is seeing plant-based products creep into mainstream retail like this. A few years ago this would've been relegated to specialty sections, but now it's getting shelf space in regular supermarkets. Whether it actually moves volume at scale though? That's the real question. Breakfast is competitive and people have their routines locked in.
Curious if this becomes a real category shift or just another plant-based product line that sounds good on paper. The retail push is definitely there though.
