Sometimes, the only way to stop rumination is to forget fast enough.

The essence of internal conflict is that the cerebral cortex suddenly runs short of oxygen—an “evidence-for-sure” finding scientists uncovered when they used MRI scans on the human brain—
Even in healthy people who aren’t depressed, when they suddenly face social pressure, the oxygenation levels in the right inferior frontal gyrus and the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex on the right side of their brain will be significantly lower than those of healthy controls.
To put it plainly: no matter who you are, no matter how capable, when something happens—when you meet with pressure—your cerebral cortex instantly goes hypoxic, and in MRI it shows up as a key marker of depression: ruminating thoughts.
As lofty as it may sound, it also has a streetwise nickname in the underground: internal conflict.
There’s no way to solve this physiological response of the nervous system; it’s beyond human effort.
As soon as you run into trouble and have to bear social pressure, even if the gods arrived, you’d still internalize conflict.
Then why do true masters seem not to internalize conflict?
It’s simple: because they’re too fast—they drop the pressure too quickly. One second they’re still wearing a painful-and-awkward mask; the next, they can energetically block out that problem and forget the enormous weight of it all.
Pressure? What pressure? That’s what happened to me in the last second—what does it have to do with me now?
At this point, face has no value. Feeling embarrassed doesn’t solve a single problem. The cerebral cortex is already hypoxic—relax and get oxygen back in is what really matters.
The greatest hidden talent that the gods of heaven and earth have is forgetting: as long as you forget fast enough, your cerebral cortex can “fully restore to full health” in the next second, a tiny dose of rebirth—Nirvana reborn.
After that, what’s left is simply to seriously solve the thing at hand—just that simple.
Always remember: in your world, you also have a divine shield watching over you.
Pick up a glass of water and look at the reflection inside— the divine is right there.
