BIT: Strategy and Bitcoin price movement have diverged, with total held position cost approximately $62 billion
Deep Tide TechFlow News, April 28, According to independent analyst Markus Thielen’s analysis, Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) currently has a total purchase cost of Bitcoin of about $62 billion. Even during the past two quarters when Bitcoin was generally volatile and consolidating, the company continued to raise capital from the capital markets and increase its BTC holdings. From historical trends, Strategy’s stock price is highly correlated with Bitcoin’s price, with stronger elasticity and more prominent relative performance during bull markets, but when market momentum weakens, the stock price sometimes declines earlier than Bitcoin.
Currently, Strategy’s stock price ($169) and Bitcoin ($78,658) have shown some divergence. If past patterns still apply, a re-convergence of the two could indicate an improvement in Strategy’s relative performance, but ultimately it still depends on the overall market environment.
