Recently, I’ve been switching back and forth between L2 and the mainnet, and my biggest takeaway is: don’t treat “saving gas” as the only goal; in the end, it can just lead to wasting time. For small transactions and frequent swaps, I prefer L2 for a smoother experience; but when it comes to large transactions or ones involving permissions or vaults, I still prefer to go back to the mainnet. It’s more expensive, but I feel more at ease.

How to strike a balance? Honestly, it’s about first doing the “potentially many modifications” operations on L2, and once the plan is finalized and the number of signatures is reduced, then move everything to the mainnet for a one-time execution. Also, avoid jumping back and forth across chains; too many jumps increase both fees and mental load.

On-chain tools are also quite awkward now; sometimes their labels just can’t keep up, and they can even be misled by hype… So I usually treat them as references, not conclusions.

Should I stay on L2 all the time?
My own answer: it depends on the frequency, not on faith.
