Traditional payment giants finally couldn't hold back—Western Union makes a major move into Solana—

Western Union officially announces that next month they will launch their own stablecoin on Solana, $USDPT , issued by Anchorage Digital, mainly for SWIFT settlement alternatives between companies and global agents.
At the same time, they are building a digital asset network and launching a stablecoin debit card, allowing millions of wallet users to directly deposit and withdraw fiat currency. Over 360,000 online cash points are directly connected, effectively linking on-chain USD with the real world.
This TradFi + crypto implementation case is quite hardcore; it’s not small-scale, but real money competing in the payments race.
The Chinese community is saying SWIFT will be overtaken by Solana? I’m half in agreement, half skeptical.
SWIFT won't die in the short term, but once players like Western Union, with 175 years of history, use Solana’s low fees and high speed to cut internal settlement costs to the minimum, global remittance efficiency will skyrocket—especially in high-inflation countries and for migrant remittance scenarios.
USDPT is not just another air stablecoin; behind it is Western Union’s global network and compliance licenses, making it accessible to both institutions and ordinary users.
Will the stablecoin track see a second spring?
My answer is definitely yes.
This wave isn’t just DeFi hype; traditional giants are treating stablecoins as infrastructure. Solana once again lands a big deal, and the Crossmint partnership makes it easy for more fintechs to connect.
In the past, discussions about stablecoins mainly focused on USDT/USDC dominance, but now players like Western Union entering the scene inject real payment scenarios and massive user bases into the entire track.
Of course, risks exist: regulatory rollout speed, actual adoption rate, and Solana network stability.
But overall, this is the right path for crypto—moving from speculation to real money serving billions. The signal is clear: don’t just focus on memes; the long-term narrative of stablecoins + payments is being validated by major players.
Western Union has entered the game—who might be next? Do you think #SWIFT 真要被 # and Solana will beat them, or is Western Union just testing the waters? Will USDPT succeed, or is it just another institutional toy? Let’s discuss!
