Interesting news from the Bitcoin ecosystem. Blockstream has just updated their Blockstream Green app to version 5.2.0, and it now features a function that many users have been waiting for.
The point is that now their hardware wallet Jade has gained full support for the Lightning Network. Previously, this was unavailable for users who wanted to store Bitcoin in cold storage.
Now the situation has changed. Blockstream has implemented an atomic swap mechanism that connects the Lightning Network with the Liquid network — a Bitcoin sidechain developed by Blockstream itself. In short, your Lightning payments are converted into LBTC (Bitcoin on Liquid) and securely stored on the Jade device.
This makes Blockstream Jade the first hardware wallet in the world to enable interaction with Lightning for Bitcoin without compromising security. You get the speed of Lightning payments and the cold storage of your funds — the best of both worlds.
