Today it’s raining and traffic is heavy, the coffee on the cup holder is shaking and has cooled down… I check my phone and see a bunch of social mining, points tasks, and identity badges again, fingers faster than my brain, almost went to “check in.” Honestly, isn’t this just using attention as a mining machine? Someone said “attention is mining,” sounds pretty cool, but I’m now a bit skeptical whether it’s a false proposition: what you mine might not be coins, but time and emotions being drained.

I used to leverage in the same way, triggered by leaderboards, badges, and the hype in groups, the more anxious I was, the more I wanted to catch up. Now I’ve changed: only keep a few real-use identities/points, don’t drain your life for a small icon; if you really want to participate, use small spot positions + options hedging, so you can sleep even if you lose. Anyway, I’ll first note down the “impulse trigger points”… Today’s one, consider it my self-rescue.
