Altcoins: The Temptation of Huge Profits and Deadly Risks, A Must-Read Before Entering
In the cryptocurrency market, altcoins rely on extreme price fluctuations to attract investors seeking high returns, but they are both a shortcut to wealth and a trap that can swallow your principal. Profits and risks are always severely unbalanced.
The profit potential of altcoins is highly tempting. During bull markets and when hot topics emerge, high-quality altcoins often outperform Bitcoin by far, with gains of several times, dozens of times, or even hundreds of times, frequently bringing substantial short-term returns. Some early investors in promising altcoins can seize sector rotation dividends, quickly double their assets, and make high profits with small capital, which is the core reason many flock to them.
But corresponding to this are deadly risks far exceeding those of mainstream coins. First is the risk of zeroing out—most altcoins lack real technological support, practical applications, or stable communities; they rely solely on hype. Once popularity wanes or the project team runs away, the price drops to zero, and the principal is lost entirely. Second is the risk of extreme volatility—altcoins have small market caps and high control, with prices soaring and crashing wildly. Daily fluctuations over 50% are common, making them easily manipulated by big players, and chasing gains or panic selling can lead to heavy losses in an instant.
In addition, there are regulatory risks and liquidity risks. Many altcoins have poor trading depth, making it difficult to sell during a crash, resulting in being completely trapped.
The huge profits from altcoins are the luck of a few; most people will ultimately become victims of being harvested. When investing in altcoins, do not be blinded by short-term gains. Strictly control your position size, avoid blindly following the trend, and take profits and cut losses in time. This is the long-term approach—do not risk losing all your principal out of greed for quick riches. #RAVE
