Since the last time @renaissxyz's Plaza, the community members have been inspired by legendary collector Ricky, and have started looking for channels to purchase the real-life One Piece Season 1, Luffy from the basketball anime, Red Luffy, Yellow Luffy, and Chopper.
Because of the belief in the charm of One Piece and the power of its IP, sometimes over time you might develop feelings for the cards and be reluctant to sell, but if you don’t start collecting now, it might be even harder to get them later.
So I also asked Stephen, who is in Japan, to help with the purchases.
I really want the Luffy card that @RaffyTCG gave away during the AMA, but unfortunately I wasn’t fast enough to post it on IG before Yuya Mikami.
There’s also the manga Chopper—this is a card I think many people want to collect too.
But what I want to say is, do you believe in TCG and PTCG? After thirty years, they still stand strong.
Comparing them to NFTs is just laughable.
TCG will always have its high points at different times, but it will never crash to zero overnight.
I want to emphasize that OP (One Piece) has only been around for 5 years, while Pokémon has been around for 25 years.
Maybe some OG collectors have held on for a long time and are very sensitive to recent hype, which makes them want to sell.
That’s very normal because their profits are already quite high.
Choosing to cash out and wait for prices to settle before buying again is very reasonable.
Just like Digimon—if you don’t buy now for collection, it will be very hard to get in later when each card starts hitting thousands or tens of thousands.
You don’t know if prices will go up or when they will, but as long as you believe, just put your childhood and dreams into your card collection—that’s all it takes.
Start your OP collection with the few cards I mentioned, and once you have a deeper pocket, slowly fill in the gaps!
Even if TCG is a bubble, it’s years away from bursting; NFTs might not even last three years—how can you compare?
Never compare the Web3 consensus with Web2, because you’ll realize they are on completely different levels...
