According to The Block, Stacks Labs, the development team behind Bitcoin Layer2 Stacks, announced that its SIP-034 upgrade has been completed on mainnet. By optimizing the transaction resource limit handling mechanism, the upgrade increases the network's "effective capacity" by up to approximately 30x in certain DeFi applications. The upgrade adjusts the previous mechanism where hitting any resource budget would reset all limits, to now only reset the single depleted limit. This improves the available throughput within blocks. The team stated that the upgrade does not directly change the STX token economics, but may bring more transactions and fees as network activity increases.
