The Financial Supervisory Service of South Korea releases 2026 work plan, will strengthen crypto regulation
Mars Finance reports that on February 9, the Korea Financial Supervisory Service announced its 2026 work plan, which includes: conducting special investigations into high-risk areas of the crypto market, cracking down on whale and other price manipulation behaviors; establishing a new working group for the Basic Law on Digital Assets to support the development of a legal framework for virtual assets; introducing punitive fines for financial IT incidents, strengthening CEO safety responsibilities, and establishing a cyber threat monitoring system using AI technology; enhancing efforts to combat illegal private finance and telecom fraud, and promoting the development of “Financial AI Ethics Guidelines” and risk management frameworks.
