A major virtual asset scam case in 2023 continues to develop. An unlicensed trading platform suspected of fraud has been exposed, involving celebrities, internet influencers, and others who induced investors to invest and lost their funds. Currently, 16 people have been prosecuted.

Recently, the case was re-heard at the Eastern District Magistrates' Court. One influencer defendant was originally charged with one count of money laundering. The prosecution has now applied to amend the initial charge and add three similar charges, involving a total amount of HKD 18.8 million. The magistrate approved the prosecution's application, and the case has been adjourned to March 27 for further hearing to prepare documents for referral to a higher court. The defendant was granted bail.

The defendant is now charged with four counts of money laundering. The prosecution alleges that between November 2020 and August 2023, he processed suspicious transactions exceeding HKD 18.8 million through multiple accounts at ZhongAn Bank, Mox Bank, Lihui Bank, and Hui Li Bank. This case serves as a reminder to investors of the importance of choosing licensed trading platforms.

18.8 million HKD? Oh my god, how long does it take to wash that... It's another unlicensed platform, and another influencer selling products. I can see through this routine. Choosing a licensed platform is useless; the problem is most people can't tell what a licensed platform really is... Celebrities and influencers are all "investment advisors," I'm exhausted. This time, it's finally their turn to be sued. Probably late, huh. Thinking of that case last year, same routine, just like that. Over 18 million just disappeared like that. Who's going to compensate? Licensed platforms have also scammed me before, don't trust them too much. Seeing this kind of news too often, it's just so-so... HKD or USD? The difference is huge.

18.8 million HKD, such a large sum, no wonder it took so long to wash --- Another unlicensed platform, everyone really needs to check carefully before investing --- Influencer marketing failure, this time it’s directly in court, hilarious --- Moving 18 million across multiple accounts, this operation is really quite bold --- Licensing is really important, otherwise you’ll just become a defendant --- Seeing celebrities and influencers involved in scams makes me want to shake my head, even fans’ money dares to scam? --- It took from 2020 to 2023 to catch them, how patient they must have been --- Four counts of money laundering, bail is probably also in jeopardy now --- HKD 18.8 million, how much is that in RMB? Just thinking about it makes my stomach turn --- Unlicensed platforms really need to be severely cracked down on

18.8 million HKD... That's a huge amount, no wonder they've been able to operate for so long. --- Again, an unlicensed platform. Investors really need to be more cautious. --- Internet celebrity product promotion backfired, this time it directly ended up in court. --- Four counts of money laundering, this guy is really ruthless. --- Choosing a license plate is no small matter, a bloody lesson. --- Artists and internet celebrities together harvesting profits, I have to give this combo a thumbs up. --- Zhong'an, Mox, Lihui, Huili... so many accounts, clearly prepared. --- 18.8 million, how many people must have been scammed to accumulate that amount? --- Unlicensed exchanges should be shut down immediately, don't wait until cases become so big. --- Is the defendant out on bail? The law needs to be better educated.

18.8 million HKD... This is the price of following the trend, and there are still people posting every day about guaranteed profits with no risk. Internet celebrities are scamming people one after another; it’s long overdue for strict investigation. Another unlicensed platform, why are people still throwing money into it? Wake up, everyone. This time it involves multiple bank accounts laundering money. Truly unbelievable—turns out the platform and internet celebrities are running a full-scale scam. Licensed platforms are better in this regard, at least they are regulated. Looking at these numbers, it’s outrageous. So many people have been scammed, yet the court proceedings continue, dragging on repeatedly. Is influencer marketing fraud now routine? How can we prevent it? Enough already, another review in March. Who knows what the outcome will be then.
